Immigration Lawyers Step Up to Help Abused LGBT Immigrants

Lawyers applauds trend towards acceptance of the civil rights of LGBT individuals and families, but there is still more to be done. In many areas there is still severe discrimination, harassment and inequality against those who self-identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender. Sexual orientation is irrelevant to the self-evident natural rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
Immigration law is one particular area that needs a lot of help. In other parts of the world, non-heterosexuality can be life-threatening, as intolerant societies and governments make LGBT individuals suffer for no reason except prejudice and close-mindedness. Vague feelings of personal discomfort is no reason to treat others than less than human, but rejection, harassment, beatings, rape, and death happen daily. These people look to the United States for freedom and safety.
Unfortunately, there is discrimination still in the immigration policy and LGBT immigration is one of them.
